As arm candy enthusiasts (and by that we mean adorning our wrists in a bouquet of bracelets; although, a dapper date is always nice), we were delighted to discover jewelry brand Etkie. We can’t get enough of the Native American beaded beauties in the collection! The Southwestern geometric designs look très chic molded into modern cuffs and earrings. We’re not alone in this crush: these baubles can be found on the arms of most It Girls and stocked by the hottest boutiques (such as Parisian-favorite Colette).

Etkie, founded by Sydney Alfonso, employs artisans in New Mexico who use traditional Native American loom beading techniques. Sydney grew up in New Mexico and was struck by the immense talents of the community that were severely underutilized. Her mission was to create dignified jobs in local communities while at the same time honoring the customs and traditions that have been passed down for centuries. Sound familiar? No wonder we’re pals.

If you’ve ever been to New Mexico, you know what a special place it is. It has a rich cultural history, a landscape so beautiful it will leave you breathless, and an unbreakable community spirit. We’re so excited to have a piece of New Mexico with us here in California as the Etkie team joins us in our stores for special events next week. Shop her full line, sip vino and bubbles, meet Sydney and artisans Priscilla and Cal, and watch demonstrations of the traditional beading techniques used to make Etkie’s covetable treasures (you can even try it out yourself!).
