The pillow is finished with our flax linen backing and closed by an exposed zipper with a gold pull. The cushion is stuffed with an oversized down insert.

Provenance

This pillow is made from fabric that is inspired by a vintage St. Frank piece created in Uzbekistan. The Lakai people are a sub-tribe of the Uzbek who did not embrace Islam and have instead maintained the traditions of mountain horsemen. The symbols of their vibrant, free-style embroidery reflect their ancient way of life. In this piece, for example, the star and hooked sun-disc motifs reference the Lakai practices of sun and fire worship. The all-over design, with dense embroidery, represents the free flowing energy characteristic of Lakai textiles.
