Lakai Tray Large
This tray is created by woodwork artisans in the Philippines with our Lakai fabric by the yard, inspired by our iconic St. Frank Uzbek textile. The Lakai people are a sub-tribe of the Uzbek who did not embrace Islam and have instead maintained the traditions of mountain horsemen. The symbols of their vibrant, free-style embroidery reflect their ancient way of life. In the piece that inspired this fabric, for example, the star and hooked sun-disc motifs reference the Lakai practices of sun and fire worship. The all-over design, with dense embroidery, represents the free flowing energy characteristic of Lakai textiles.
