The Mapoch candle is wrapped in raffia woven by women artisans from the Mikea tribe of Madagascar. The beige and black pattern is interrupted by bold colors and geometric motifs inspired by the colorful frescos of Ndebele houses of South Africa. The woody scent of this candle, with notes of eucalyptus, grapefruit, and wood fires, is inspired by the soft smell of the Malagasy forest. The candle is named in honor of an ambitious Ndebele chief who refused to kowtow to Dutch farmers.
