The Tsiva candle is wrapped in black raffia with natural raffia interruptions, woven by women artisans from the Mikea tribe of Madagascar. The natural raffia motifs represent seeds of the palm tree from which the raffia is sourced. Traditionally, the Mikea are hunter-gatherers who live in the forests along the coast of southwestern Madagascar. Woven into the raffia are two small spears sculpted in natural horn, similar to the spears traditionally used by the Mikea hunters. The woody scent of this candle, with notes of eucalyptus, grapefruit, and wood fires, is inspired by the soft smell of the Malagasy forest.
