As the weather gets warmer, we can’t help but daydream about open air parties set in a beautiful Moroccan courtyard, surrounded by our closest friends. But why wait to travel across the globe to celebrate? We’ve gathered some unique ways to throw an unforgettable party in your own home that’ll have all your guests buzzing. Is it too late now to say soiree?
Stay Grounded. Chairs are overrated. Throw out the rules and put your pillows on the floor! Sitting on the floor feels less formal and helps to break the ice and get the conversation going. We love the mix of patterns, hues, sizes and textures from Design Love Fest’s Moon Party. Pair our favorite vintage indigo pillows with pops of color from the Huipil collection and geometric texture from our Muong pillows. This combination will ensure your guests will be floored! (Can’t resist a good pun.)
Go Green. No outdoor space? No problem! Bring the greenery inside. Big, lush plants help to liven and invigorate any indoor space. Fiddle Leaf Fig and Fiji Palms are some of our favorites (and quite easy to care for – but, shhh…you don’t have to tell your guests). Greenery also makes a great centerpiece. Throw a few mini succulents or flowers (we love the use of bright food cans as vases), a candle and a couple of glass beads on one of our new trays, et voilà!
Drink Up. As the song about our city goes, if you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair. But what about flowers in your drink? We love this idea for edible flower ice cubes to brighten up any libation. And why stop there? Rue’s horchata cocktails topped with a delicate flower look just as sweet as they do mouth-watering. Finish off your gorgeous creations by placing them on our Rwandan peace coasters. No one will ever guess you aren’t a trained mixologist.
Say Yes to Print. Frankophiles – you know that we never shy away from prints and patterns in any setting. They are an easy way to add color and texture. Our table linens – from our playful Otomi to geometric mud cloth, create a bold base for your setting. Consider layering mismatched vintage china or unexpected flatware such as a gold or horn-handle setting.
Get Cooking. There’s no need to travel far away to celebrate with global cuisine. Our cookbooks will give you the inspiration you need to impress your guests. Try the Alexandria-style Koshari from Suzanne Zeidy’s Cairo Kitchen, the Al Pastor Tacos from Mexico: The Cookbook by Margarita Carrillo Arronte, and Gastón Acurio’s delicious Ceviche Criollo from Peru: The Cookbook. And for the sweet finale to your meal – you can’t go wrong with any recipe in Bernard Laurance’s Baklava to Tarte Tatin, which features desserts from every continent.
And that, my friends, is how you throw a party.
